Listed whether or not they pay us. Prices from each tool's own pricing page, checked Oct 16, 2026.

How we rank tools, and how we make money

The short version: tools are listed whether or not they pay us, and paying us doesn't move a tool up the list.

Where the facts come from

Every plan, price and limit on a listing was copied from that tool's own pricing page, help center or terms, with the link kept on the listing under "Where this came from" and the date we checked it. When a figure came from somewhere else, like a yearly price we worked out from a stated discount, the listing says so.

We don't test tools hands on and we don't publish star ratings or "editor's picks". What we publish is what each company says it charges and what each plan includes, side by side.

How the list is ordered

On every list, "Our ranking" sorts tools by:

  1. Status. Tools that are still active come before tools that were acquired, renamed or changed focus.
  2. How well we could confirm the facts. Prices confirmed on the tool's own pricing page come first; prices we had to derive or take from a third party come later.
  3. How complete the listing is. Free plan limits, both monthly and yearly prices, platforms, features and a full plan list.
  4. Name, alphabetically, as the tiebreaker.

You can switch to "Cheapest first" or "Name" on any list. Whether a tool has an affiliate deal with us is not an input to any of these.

How we make money

Some tools pay a commission when someone signs up through our link. Right now none of the 491 listed tools have an affiliate link with us; every "Visit site" button goes straight to the tool's own site. When a link does earn us money, the listing says "We earn a commission" next to it, and the button is marked as sponsored for search engines.

Commission rates don't decide which tools we list, what we write about them, or where they appear.

Upvotes

Every tool has an upvote button. Upvotes come from visitors to this site: one per tool per person, and you can take yours back. We don't add, buy or remove upvotes, and tool makers can't pay for them. They don't change "Our ranking"; you see them on each tool and can sort any list by "Most upvoted". To keep one upvote per person we store a scrambled code made from your connection and browser, never your IP address itself.

When something changes

AI tools change prices, drop free plans, rename and shut down often. Each listing shows the date its facts were checked. Tools that were acquired, renamed or changed focus keep their listing with a note about what changed; tools that shut down move to the AI tool graveyard.
